Vegan Ferrero Rocher candies are so easy to make at home! They are loaded with hazelnuts and chocolate and will be your new favorite treat!

I can never resist those golden foiled truffles of happiness known as Ferrero Rocher candies. They just hit all my favorite flavors.

The nutty hazelnut, the crunch, the multi-textures of chocolate. They hit all the right notes.

As I stared at the jar of hazelnuts in my pantry, I knew homemade Ferrero Rocher candies had to happen. I mean surely we could make a simplified no-bake version with just a few ingredients that feel super decadent, no?

If you love gluten free desserts, you have to check out these 50+ Gluten Free Dessert Recipes! I love chocolate so if you do too, check out all my chocolate recipes! These Chocolate Quinoa Crisps are one of my favorites!! Or, if you want to double down on your chocolate love, check out my Ultimate List of Chocolate Desserts: 30+ Ideas!!

What Are Ferrero Rocher Candies?

Ferrero Rochers are a chocolate hazelnut candy. The candy truffle ball has a hazelnut center covered with a soft chocolate hazelnut ganache and coated a chocolate and chopped hazelnuts. The candy is covered in foil and placed into a paper liner.

Are These Candies Healthier?

I think so! I’m including the nutrition facts in the recipe card but I love that this homemade version is lower on sugar compared to the store-bought version.

Ingredients for Vegan Ferrero Rocher

Chocolate. You can use whatever brand you like. I like to use a vegan dark or semi-sweet chocolate.

Coconut Milk. This is going into the ganache and makes it nice and creamy.

Vanilla Extract. Just a splash! If you can find hazelnut extract that would really bump up the hazelnut flavor!

Hazelnuts. Honestly, the star of the show! I love chocolate and hazelnut combo.

Coconut Oil. I always use refined coconut oil because it doesn’t have the coconutty flavor. This will be the base for the chocolate coating and gives these candies the perfect thin iconic ferrero rocher exterior. If you want to simplify things a bit, check out the notes in the recipe card for another option!

Cocoa Powder. This will make the chocolate coating… chocolate!

Sweetener. Just a touch. Go for a sticky sweetener like maple syrup, agave nectar or honey.

How to Make Vegan Ferrero Rocher

Make the Filling

Chop the dark chocolate into small chunks and add to a medium mixing bowl.

Heat the coconut milk in the microwave for 30-60 seconds or until hot.

Pour the heated coconut milk over the chopped chocolate and leave to sit for 5 minutes before stirring until completely smooth. (If the chocolate doesn’t completely melt, feel free to microwave the mixture for 20 second intervals until smooth).

Place the ganache in the refrigerator to cool for 1-2 hours or until firm.

Make the Truffles

One cooled, use a small cookie scoop or a tablespoon to scoop out a ball of the vegan chocolate ganache.

Use your hands to press one whole hazelnut into the center of the chocolate ball.

Pinch the ball closed around the hazelnut and then roll between your palms until the ball is round and smooth.

Continue this process with each hazelnut until all the ganache is used up.

Place the candies in the fridge until ready to coat.

Coat the Candies

In a separate bowl, add the melted coconut oil, cocoa powder and maple syrup. Mix until combined and leave to sit for 5-10 minutes at room temperature or until the mixture just starts to thicken a bit.

Take each chocolate ball and dip into the chocolate coating before placing on a piece of parchment paper and sprinkling generously with chopped hazelnuts. For a more traditional Ferrero Rocher look, feel free to roll the ganache balls directly in the hazelnuts BEFORE coating with the chocolate, but it’s a bit more challenging to get the hazelnuts to stick properly.

Chill & Enjoy!

Leave to cool in the fridge for 10-15 minutes or until the chocolate is set + enjoy! Any leftovers should be kept in the fridge or freezer.

How to Store these Candies

These candies are best stored in the fridge. They keep their shape and are best kept chilled until you’re ready to enjoy!

Can these be Frozen?

Sure! Keep a stash of these in your freezer for whenever you need a chocolatey treat! Enjoy them frozen or transfer them to the fridge to defrost a bit before enjoying.

Tips

These can also be coated with simple melted vegan chocolate with a tsp of coconut oil added. It’s just a thicker style coating!
