One of the things I’m excited to do this fall is go apple picking! I have no clue if there are apple orchards out here in California, but I’m sure we can find something apple-y to do.
I remember when Caleb was 1ish we went apple picking and much to our horror he kept picking apples up off the ground and taking bites.
No matter how much we explained we had to pick. then collect. then pay. then wash. then eat. It was wayy too many steps for a 1 year old to comprehend and we ended up buying a basket of apples all with adorable little bites taken from them.

How to make gluten free apple crisp:
First, peel the skin off the apples and thinly slice them. Bring a medium pot of water to a boil and place the apples in a steaming basket over the boiling water and cover.
Steam for about five minutes until the apples are softened but still appear crunchy and maintain their shape.
While the apples are steaming, place the pecans (any mix of nut and seeds that sounds good to you will work), almond flour, salt, coconut oil, peanut butter, and vanilla in a large bowl. Fold together until combined.
Divide most of the crumble mixture between four ramekins. Use the back of a spoon to press it down in an even layer.
In a medium bowl, mix together the steamed apples, agave nectar (honey or maple syrup works), and cinnamon. Divide the apples between the ramekins.
Finally, crumble the remaining nutty mixture on top of the apples. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of each and enjoy!!

How many people does the gluten free apple crisp recipe serve? I don’t see where it says that and I’m having a dinner party and want to understand before I make it 🙂

Amazing!! Turned out so good! I did cook the apples on the stovetop with a bit more water. I then thickened the juice that was left with more coconut sugar and corn starch to make a sauce to pour over the apples before baking. Love how easy and customizable the recipe is!!
