Pecan pie brownies are about to be your favorite special dessert!
I don’t know about you, but my favorite pie is pecan pie. It’s caramel flavor, it’s mouthwateringly nutty texture. I mean, it’s always the first slice of pie I go for.
Today I’m combine my love for fudgey chocolate brownies with my favorite pie. It’s guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser for sure!

Ingredients for the Brownie Layer
Almond Butter. I love using almond butter for the base of brownies! They make for such a fudgey and rich dessert! If you don’t have almond butter, try another nut or seed butter like peanut butter, cashew butter or tahini! Just keep in mind the brownies may take on those flavors.
Coconut Sugar. I love using coconut sugar to sweeten my desserts. If you need to sub it for something else, another granular sweetener would be great!
Vanilla Extract. Just a splash for those cozy, warm baked good vibes.
Eggs. To hold it all together!
Cocoa Powder. To make them nice and chocolatey.
Baking Soda & Salt. For some baking magic 🙂
Ingredients for the Pecan Pie Topping
Coconut Oil. I tend to go for refined coconut oil so it doesn’t have a coconut-ty flavor but if you’re in a pinch, butter will work here too.
Maple Syrup. Agave or honey are also an option!
Coconut Sugar. If you need to sub something else, go for brown sugar! So caramel-y and delicious!
Vanilla Extract. For some cozy pecan pie vibes!
Salt. To bring out all those sweet flavors.
Pecans. Because what would be a pecan pie topping without pecans? I love using chopped pecans for this recipe.
How to Make Pecan Pie Brownies
- Prep. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish with parchment paper.
- Make the brownies. Combine all of the brownie ingredients together in a large bowl and mix with a large spoon. The batter WILL be thick, but it will come together in a cohesive mixture with a minute or two of mixing – just be sure to scrape the sides to incorporate them.
- Pan it. Transfer the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and use the spoon or a spatula to smooth the batter into an even layer, making sure to reach each of the corners.
- Bake the brownie layer. Place the brownies in the oven for 5 – 8 minutes while you prepare the pecan topping.
- Make the pecan layer. Add the coconut oil, maple syrup and coconut sugar into a medium sized pot. Heat the mixture until boiling while whisking – it will look separated at first, but will come together! Once boiling, cook for 1 minute while whisking (or until the sugar and coconut oil come together) and remove from the heat. Add in the vanilla, salt and nuts and mix!
- Add pecan topping to the brownies. Remove the brownies from the oven and pour the pecan mixture over the top. Use a spatula to carefully smooth the pecan mixture over the entire pan of brownies.Return to the oven to bake for 20 minutes.
- Cool completely. Allow to cool completely before slicing!
How to Store them
Fridge. Leftover brownies can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for probably a couple weeks.
Freezer. Stash these brownies in an airtight container or large plastic bag in your freezer, they keep really well for a few months!
Ways to Enjoy these Pecan Pie Brownies
Freshly Baked. I mean, can you blame me? You spend all that time prepping, baking, cooling. I get it! You want to dig in asap! Enjoy them freshly baked 🙂
Chilled. Pop them in the fridge for the brownies to set in the ultra fudgey texture!
With Ice Cream. Nothing says happiness to me quite like a warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. If you have any stashed away in your freezer, live it up!
Drizzle. Drizzle on some extra caramel on top to bump up the decadence!
All the above? When in doubt or if you’re frozen at the number of possibilities to choose from, always choose all the above.
