As a kid I had a love affair with York Peppermint Patties. I ate them pretty methodologically. I held them from the center. I nibbled around the perimeter. And, I continued to nibble around the perimeter until I got to one center bite. Then, I’d bite off the thin chocolate layer on the top and savor the center mintiness.
Was this a bit bizarre? Maybe. Or, maybe I was just really good at prolonging and enjoying every. single. moment I had with my peppermint patties. And now, I miss them and want to eat one.
Welp, instead of running out to the store to buy one, I decided that maybe I want to make 30-ish little ones that I can keep in my fridge to grab and savor whenever I damn well please. And, maybe I’ll make them healthier with zero refined sugar and minimal ingredients. And so, I did.
Today I’m sharing these DEEE-LISH Homemade Peppermint Patties made is FOUR ingredients and are so damn delicious. These make for the perfect chocolate stash to meal prep for the week, or if you’re looking for a special homemade gift for a girlfriend, hostess, valentine, you name it, these may just be the perfect treat.
So, let’s make some Homemade Peppermint Patties!!
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. Check out my tutorial for How to Melt Chocolate Chips!
Spoon about 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate into each of the circular molds and press the chocolate up the sides.
Place the tray on top of a cutting board or baking sheet to keep them flat, then pop the mold tray in the freezer for 5 minutes to set. In the meantime, mix together the coconut butter, agave and peppermint extract for the filling (you may need to microwave the coconut butter for about 30 seconds to soften).
When the first chocolate layer has set, spoon about a teaspoon of filling in each mold and press it in with your thumb, making an even layer.
Fill the molds with chocolate and pop back into the freezer for 10 minutes to set before pushing the chocolates from each mold to enjoy!

What would you recommend if I wanted to swap the agave for something else say like honey, maple syrup or ? TIA, Â sounds amazing – gotta make these!Â
Lindsay says
you can sub honey or maple syrup 1:1 for agave. hope you love!! xo

amazing! just made and they’re delish! only thing is my peppermint centre is more of a brown colour (from the sweetener) how did yours turn out so white?
Lindsay Grimes Freedman says
yay! i’m so happy you enjoyed them!! the darker color probably has something to do with the sweetener you used. do you know at what point it got the darker color?
