Sometimes I think to myself that I could eat lobster every single day. I don’t know if it’s true, but I’m willing to try. Lobster feels so indulgent to me and whenever it’s available I treat myself and and tell myself I deserve it.
Lobster, why you be so good?
There’s this little place by us called Pearson’s Port. It’s a little shop on a floating dock that sells fresh caught fish. We’re obsessed. It’s family-run for 46 years and they have a big sign that reads “LIVE LOBSTER” which is what originally caught my eye. We stop in every weekend to see what they have.
Apparently lobster season isn’t until the fall-early winter so I’m patiently waiting. Since lobster season is almost here. I thought I might as well get my lobster tail recipe on point so I’m ready to hit the ground running for lobster season.
Plus, I’m all about doing some recipe development for lobster because it’s an extra excuse to eat it over and over again. No complaints here!
When you have something as perfect as lobster tails, I’m a big fan of keeping it simple so the flavors that we all know and love ring from tastebud to tastebud. Lobster + butter is a bond that should never be broken.
If you’re feeling intimidated by lobster, DON’T BE!! This is so easy and simple, and honestly, if it were cheaper, I would be eating it regularly because it comes together in 15ish minutes. Oh, and the whole melted butter thing is a huge draw for me 🙂
So, let’s make some Perfect Butter + Herb Lobster Tails!! I really wanted to give you guys a step by step as to how to cut the tail, so I really hope you find the pictures helpful! I’m a visual learner so I love when pictures really spell it out for me.
Special thank you to my favorite hand model – my husband 🙂 So let’s make my no-fail, Perfect Herb + Butter Lobster Tails because they’re not as hard as you may think.
First, use kitchen scissors to cut the top of the shell lengthwise down, cutting right up to the line of the bottom flipper.
Flip the tails over and crack the boning on the underside. This can be super sharp and difficult to do, so I loved passing this job off to my husband.
Then, pull apart the top shell and gently pull the lobster meat from the inside, keeping it attached to the bottom flipper. Set the meat on the top of the shell and place it in a baking dish.
In a small bowl, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and whisk with the garlic, lemon juice, and chopped basil.
Brush or pour this butter mixture over top of the lobster tails.
Then, top with an extra tablespoon of butter (room temp) on each tail. Butter is in the title of the post, what did you expect?
Broil on high for 10 minutes until the meat is white and no longer translucent. Sprinkle with fresh chopped basil (if desired) and serve with additional melted butter for dipping!
