Today I thought it would be fun to share ten pantry staples with you guys! These are items that I always keep stocked in my pantry. Having these items on hand will help make easy, nutritious, quick meals and day of the week.
These aren’t in any order. I played around with the idea of doing a countdown with the last one being the #1 must have, but guys, there is no possible way I could possibly pick a favorite. They are each necessary and each serve a purpose and if I have to narrow down my pantry into only 10 items, I’d choose these.
PLUS! Jaryd helped me with this video and he came in with two bonus items that he feels like I missed out on. So, techniccccaaalllly these are top 12 pantry staples. So, let’s get into them!
#1 NUTS & SEEDS: so necessary whether you’re making an energy ball, homemade nut butter, throwing on top of salads, or making some chunky cookies. The ones we always keep in are: almonds, cashews, peanuts, walnuts, pine nuts, sunflower seeds, slivered almonds.
#2 HEMP HEARTS: perfect to throw in smoothies, in no bake desserts, or as a salad topper. They have a mild, almost nutty flavor.
#3 COCONUT SUGAR: My favorite to use for baked goods. I don’t love using this in drinks because it’s not the best at dissolving, but baked recipes or recipes cooked stovetop, it’s great!
#4 ALMOND FLOUR: I’m like Betty White with her hot sauce. I use this sh*t on everything. But like for real, if I had to pick one flour and only one flour from here on out it would beeeee blanched almond flour. Always blanched.
#5 NUT BUTTERS: Can you really live without nut or seed butter? I’m not sure and I don’t want to know. Whether I’m making a PB&J or adding a scoop to a smoothie, or basing entire recipes around my love for nut butter, you will find ALL the nut and seed butters in my pantry: natural peanut butter, natural almond butter, tahini, chocolate tahini, and sunbutter.
#6 AGAVE NECTAR: As far as sticky sweeteners go, this is my favorite but if you prefer, you can sub in honey or maple syrup.
#7 COOKING OILS: I mean, how do you cook without anything greasing the pan? I’ve come a long way in my cooking oil journey and these are the oils I always keep in – ghee (aka clarified butter), refined coconut oil, and avocado oil spray.
#8 COCONUT CREAM: One of my favorites for making things super rich, decadent, but also dairy free you can use this in anything from sauces to dressings to desserts to curries. Make sure to get unsweetened coconut cream! My favorites are this Thai Kitchen and this Let’s Do… Organic.
#9 SEA SALT: The key to bringing out the flavor in anything!! In everyday cooking and recipes I use pink Himalayan sea salt and when I want a little extra something special sprinkled on top some chocolatey treat, I love this see salt.
#10 PUFFED QUINOA: texture, people, texture!! You would not believe how much delicious crispity crunch this puffed quinoa brings to the table. It’s bomb as a cereal but also kinda perfect in treats like these peanut butter crunch balls. Reminiscent of rice krispies and they literally make me way too happy. In all honesty, I tried puffing my own quinoa once. It was a huuuuuge disaster and I don’t know if I’ll ever attempt it again. So, I buy it HERE and I love every crunchy bite.
#11 BALSAMIC VINEGAR: (Jaryd’s pick #1). Jaryd eats a lot of salad and his favorite dressing is just a drizzle of EVOO and some balsamic. He obsesses over thick, rich, flavorful balsamic and this Mia’s Kitchen has been his go-to.
#12 DARK CHOCOLATE CHIPS: (Jaryd’s pick #2). How oh HOW could I have forgotten chocolate chips in my lineup!! Whether you’re melting them down to drizzle or taking a handful for a quick treat, literally nothing brings me so much joy as some chocolatey chips. We always go for darker chocolate and these allergy-friendly chocolate chips are an ace in my book.
Hope you guys find some fun pantry staples to add to your pantry!! xo
