Prep: 5 minCook: 2 hoursTotal: 2 hours 5 min
Servings: 3 cups 1x

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cold water (super important it’s cold to make sure it’s not slimy!)
  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (Cacao v. Cocoa Powder: What’s the Difference?)
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar (honey, maple syrup, or 45 dates also work)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place the cold water, oats, cocoa powder, agave nectar, vanilla, and sea salt in a high powered blender.
  2. Blend on high for 30 seconds until completely blended and combined. See note below, it’s important you don’t blend for more than 30 seconds!
  3. Pour the contents of the blender through a nut milk bag, clean thin dish towel, or cheese cloth.
  4. Squeeze the liquid through the nut milk bag into a large bowl.
  5. Repeat this straining process a second time, if desired, to increase creaminess.
  6. Pour the strained liquid into a glass and enjoy.
  7. Keep chilled and enjoy!

Tips

  • If you blend for more than 30 seconds, people have noted the texture of the oat milk can get a bit “slimy.”
