It’s strawberry season y’all!! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know I love lemon water, and it’s been fun experimenting with different infused water flavors – cucumber, blueberry, rosemary, mint. Tons and tons of possibilities!!
I feel like every summer I get the lemonade “bug” one way or another. A few years ago I was obsessed with homemade Arnold Palmers, making big pots of iced tea at a time, saving them to mix with my lemonade. Ahh, so good. Bahh now I want to go do that.
Well, I wanted to do a different take on a traditional summer drink. It’s so easy, just a few extra steps, and soo so worth it!! You can make a big pitcher of this, or go for a single serving. Either way, it’s kinda fab and the perfect, refreshing summer beverage.
Also, this turns into the most beautiful blush color!! I mean, who doesn’t love a pretty drink? I’m thinking this would be a beautiful touch for a bridal or baby shower!! I made this in my mom’s kitchen who just happened to have the freshest, perfect blend of ingredients. I also loved brainstorming the flavor combo with her. Thanks, mom!
Let’s talk about the flavor!! I love it when no particular flavor outshines the other. You sip it, taste it, and admire the playful balance of flavors. I mean, it’s kind of the worst when you’re like, “What about the ginger? I don’t taste the ginger!” It’s like false advertising or something. I thought the ratio here was spot on. Because I’m a big lemon water person, I made it more on the unsweetened side, but you can up the sweetness if desired.
I hate ice in my drinks. So, I left enough time for my lemonade to chill in the fridge. Plus the chill time helps bring out the flavors in the water. If you’re more of an ice person, I recommend doubling the the ingredients (except water) because the ice will dilute it.
Anyway, here’s what you do!
In a large pitcher, combine the filtered water, lemon juice, lemon slices, strawberries, grated ginger, and sweetener. I’ve been obsessed with this Pyure Organic Stevia sweetener (more to come about in another post), but use whatever sweetener you like best.
Shake it up and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
I thought about straining it. I wasn’t sure if the ginger and rogue strawberry seeds would be bothersome to the drinkers. Personally, I don’t mind it so I left it in.
- 1 liter filtered water
- 4 small lemons, 3 juiced, 1 cut into 6 slices
- 3 strawberries, cut into eighths
- 1/4 t. freshly grated ginger
- 1 t. Pyure Stevia sweetener
- Place all ingredients in a pitcher and stir.
- Chill in fridge for 30 minutes - 1 hour.
- Stir or shake the pitcher before pour the lemonade into glasses. Serve each glass with strawberry pieces and a lemon slice.
- The ginger and flavors can settle on the bottom, so be sure to shake or stir the lemonade before serving!
- For a sweeter lemonade, increase the amount of sweeter by 1/2 t. until you reach desired sweetness.
