With the new year here, I think a handful of you may possibly be rethinking your meals and maybe looking for healthier snacks or morning routines. I went through a phase where, every morning, I would make a smoothie for me and my son to share.
It was actually really fun and adorable because I’d put two straws in and we’d drink from the same cup. Ahh baby memories.
It’s fun to mix up the fun smoothie flavors. Sure sure, I love when smoothies are fruity and refreshing like this green goddess smoothie, or this peanut butter and strawberry one. Buuut, I love it even more when they are super chocolatey and feel really indulgent but are actually filled with healthy good stuff.
Smoothies are easy enough. You throw everything in a blender, distract yourself for a few minutes and then DONE. You have a delicious smoothie ready to be chugged.
Want to feel super awesome about this delicious mint chocolate chip smoothie you’re about to make? Here are some stats. Mint is a calming and soothing herb that has been widely used to aid upset stomach or indigestion. It’s a really good belly reset for all those holiday indulgences 😉
The other big part of this smoothie is cacao! Cacao has 40 TIMES the amount of antioxidants than blueberries and is a really awesome plant-based source of iron and magnesium. It’s loaded with calcium and is said to be a natural mood elevator. In my own anecdotal experience, one sip of this minty cacao smoothie and I am happy as a clam.
